Call for Proposals

The NorthEast Cerebrovascular Consortium (NECC) is pleased to announce our 2017 Call for Proposals for research projects focusing on improving stroke systems of care in the region. The NECC is pleased to be able to support regional efforts focusing on stroke systems of care with mentorship and funding. The NECC will support projects with mentorship and up to $10,000 per project in budget support.

New this Year: funded proposals will have a chance to compete for additional funds in a “Shark Tank” like competition at the 12th Annual Summit, October 26th and 27th, Newport, RI.

This year The NECC is seeking fully developed research proposals that focus specifically on:
Triaging Patients Eligible for Endovascular Therapy (i.e. in the EMS space, inter-hospital transfer processes, etc.).

Note: proposals that do not address this topic will not be considered

Full Proposals:

  • Should include a statement of need with literature review.
  • Have clearly specified research question(s)/aim/hypothesis and detailed methodology.
  • Have clear data elements, data sources and tracking metrics.
  • Have a clear, detailed statistical/analysis plan (with evidence that a biostatistician or epidemiologist or similarly trained individual is part of the project team) or text justifying why it is not needed/necessary.
  • Have an identified project team.
  • Submitted proposals will be reviewed by a NECC selection committee. As a lead investigator, you will receive support from
The NECC in developing and completing your project. Senior advisors will work with your group to ensure the project’s success.

  • June 9, 2017 Full Proposals Due- Date Changed
  • Mid-Late July 2017 Applicants Notified of Final DecisionsDate Changed
  • September 1, 2017 Anticipated Start of Research Projects
  • October 26 & 27, 2017 Competition for Additional Funds for Funded Projects at the NECC Summit

Letter of Interest:
A one page letter of interest must include a) a description of the project and project team, b) measurable outcome(s), c) what mentorship and/or resources you are seeking, and d) stated intent to publish a manuscript (include target journal) and/or submit for presentation at a regional, national, or international scientific conference. If your letter of interest is accepted, you will be invited to submit a proposal for consideration.
